Leaked New Songs 139-142
by toweragent inhttp://jwtalk.net/forums/files/download/498-songs-140-142/.
i don't know if anybody has seen this (or if anybody cares).
but it seems that some of the "new" new songs have been leaked by somebody at bethel.. just a bit of a warning, do not click on that vocal rendition of song 142... it is awful.

If the "Life of a Pioneer" song is sung at a "pioneer pace", it would take 3 hours to get through the 2 verses. -

why report more partakers?
by rebel8 inof all the threads here about the number of partakers increasing, i don't recall theories as to why they report this.
they could stop reporting numbers altogether or lie.
instead they say, in essence, "our teachings about end times and heavenly hope are still wrong"..

Why did they start reporting it? To prove Thee End is approaching. We used to get so excited to see the numbers go down every year!
Why keep reporting, when the numbers show we are moving further away from Thee End instead of coming closer? It used to be that the number of FDS still alive was important, signalling the nearness of the end. Personally, I'm not sure that I have much confidence in the numbers they reported during some of those years where they reported the decreases and I wonder if the current number of partakers is higher than they report.
If anything, I think they report it because they don't know what else to do. To stop reporting it would need some more nulite explanation. Trying to justify the increase would require some nulite. So they seem to report the number, but ignore it. They publish articles trying to discourage partakers, but the number has continued to increase.
In conversation with my parents, it becomes difficult because they try to reason, "Lots of these are not genuinely anointed." But how do you gauge that? "The anointed would only be old and experienced." But the current GB is all younger than my parents, with Sanderson little older than I am (although he looks much, much older than I do.) How do you draw a line between who is or isn't really anointed? The whole thing about being anointed (and qualifying for the GB) is the ability to nibble and sip once per year with a sincere-looking expression on their faces.

JW in New Orleans in the news
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inhttp://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/suspect-machete-attack-new-orleans-airport-has-died-n327841.
the machete attacker at the new orleans airport was a jw.
he had a history of mental health problems and "refused certain medical care".

In the reports I've seen that mention he was a JW, it's brought up in the context of: 1) refusing certain medical care, 2) quote of the neighbor who said he was a JW who shunned Western medicine and encouraged herbal remedies (That's not exactly a WT policy, but not uncommon among the JWs I've known).
None of the local news broadcasts I've seen mention that he was a JW.
It's a tragedy. And he might have done the same thing regardless of which religion he belonged to. But I see this event as a huge smear against WT's "Da Troof Transforms Lives" type of articles. WT is like every other religion that can report "We transform some lives for the better, but we still have plenty that can fly off the rails at any moment."

The song lyrics should be something like:
"Jehovah our God is so needy.
You'd better do what he says and do it speedy.
Don't go to school,
because you are his tool.
Get a job that is crappy,
this makes Jehovah happy."

Clearly he wasn't all there, which may not have too much to do with JW's.
As much as JWs are taught to believe that they are special, they have the same "imperfections" as everyone else.

The machete attacker at the New Orleans airport was a JW. He had a history of mental health problems and "refused certain medical care". By that, I assume he refused blood.

Hello All!
by ihunt ini figure it's about time that i stop silently lurking around this community and actually add to the conversation, so here goes a first post.
a little about me-i was born "half-in", that is, my mother has been a witness for the entirety of my life whereas my father has never been.
i was an active part of the congregation (at least for what an unbaptized publisher can do) until i turned 18 and got an opportunity to attend a university (go school!).

Welcome!
After my freshman year, I returned home to a somewhat nightmarish scene, where a large portion of the community that I had been a part of since my childhood completely ignored my presence solely due to the fact that I had a desire to continue my education (I will say, however, that this was not true of all of them, and that I received some genuine support from unexpected places). That was when I began actively searching for TTATT.
I wouldn't call your scene "nightmarish". Losing some 'friends' because you want an education isn't really losing anything important. Here's a real nightmarish scene: Leaving school to immerse yourself in the world of WT for 2 or 3 decades and then, finally, learn TTATT.

144,000 + Jehovah ... but not Jesus ... so, 144,001

PERFECT TITLE : Obsolete building sails heavenward, helping train firefighters
by paulmolark inhttp://www.chinookobserver.com/co/local-news/20150320/all-fired-up-obsolete-building-sails-heavenward-helping-train-firefighters.
plans to demolish an aging church created an opportunity for a multi-agency training burn.. .
long beach it was a sunday morning service unlike any other.. on march 15, a few dozen spectators mostly church members gathered to watch a fire training at the kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses north of long beach.. the burn was made possible through a cooperative arrangement with the local congregation and fire departments in pacific, wahkiakum and cowlitz counties.

Hmmm, how to respond...
- Firemen torching a Kingdumb Haul? These MUST be the Last Days!
- This is prophetic! 40 years is a "building generation" that overlaps the human generation that was alive in 1914. So the end is going to come before the little kids that attended that KH grow old and die.
- Christendom takes pride in their churches that have stood for centuries. JWs take pride in Kingdumb Hauls that are disposable--easily burned to the ground and replaced with new Kingdumb Hauls that are redesigned to not look like old Kingdumb Hauls. They're like Kleenex--pull one out and the next one pops up.
- Firemen: "Does anyone have a light?" JW: (hands him latest WT magazine) "Here's the newest light!"

Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life
by campaign of hate inthis point was raised in another thread vaguely, and wanted to try and expand on it.. the wt has said (and rightly so in my opinion) "that excessive use of drugs and alcohol can ruin your life".
in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.
as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

Part of the WT indoctrination is a self-destruct mechanism--leaving the cult will cause us to become an alcoholic, immoral, our family will fall apart, and everything will go so wrong that we may die or wish that we'd die.
As mentioned by others, there are plenty of active JWs that are a mess. With the fear, obligation, and guilt that's heaped on JWs, they can't reason how WT is the real source of unhappiness in their lives.
